Hi everyone, This is the page where I'm supposed to let you know all there is to know about me and reveal all my dirty secrets and so on. ;-) Well I'm just gonna keep it short and tell you the somewhat quick story. So anyway... like so many girls I was heavily influence by the music my boyfriend of the time was into. He was obsessed by punk rock and RAC, particularly bands with strong social commentary who objected to the politics of the time. The one man in that genre who impressed me the most was the singer of a controversial British band, Skrewdriver. Ian Stuart was the leader singer and his determination to sing about what he believed in despite the hateful opposition and the corporate music industry which wouldn't play his music unless it fit their agenda. This was a independent artist if ever I'd heard one and a courageous individual who wasn't afraid to stand up for what he believed in. This truly inspired me and prompted me to do the same. At that time, we hung out at a music store. It was there that I heard the first installment of Pro Patria which featured a female vocalist. It sounded alright, I thought, but after a couple of hours of listening to the disc, I said to myself - hey...I think I can do better! Well some days later and with an essential amount of alcohol in my system I sung those songs. I guess I impressed someone because the next day I was on the phone to the record executive of the label. Singing to him in the phone... soooo embarrassing!! But he must have liked it because I was asked if I was interested in recording a couple of background vocals for an existing band that were recording their latest album as a test with a view to undertaking future projects. Let's just say that I got the contract. ;-) That's when my 'commercial' career got put on hold, so to speak and Saga's 'independent' mission got underway! The rest is history, I suppose. We released Symphony Of Sorrow's debut album and followed up with the My Tribute to Skrewdriver albums as a homage to Ian Stuart's courage. You can bet, I was bowled over and extremely honoured when I was approached and asked to do the vocals. That project grew bigger than any of us could have imagined and today, stands as the best selling Swedish RAC production ever. With me on vocals! Amazing!! I still haven't recorded half the songs I feel deserve to be covered but I hope I can inspire the next generation to take up the standard.
Hej på er :) Det här är ju sidan som jag ska berätta allt som är värt att veta och avslöja alla mina hemligheter osv. ;) Men jag tänkte fatta mig kort och berätta den något förkortade versionen: Liksom många andra tjejer i den här världen träffade jag en kille som fullkomligt älskade Skrewdriver, No Remorse, Brutal Attack etc. bara för att bara nämna ett par band ur hans gigantiska cd-samling. På den tiden umgicks vi med en av Midgårds återförsäljare, det var när Midgård släppte den första Pro Patria plattan med en kvinnlig sångerska vid namn Frigg. Jag tyckte det lät helt ok, men efter jag lyssnat på det ett par timmar tänkte jag - hmm, jag borde kunna göra det där minst lika bra om inte bättre! Vi kan väl nöja oss med att säga att jag fick kontraktet. Det projektet växte ju sig större än någon kunnat förutspå och är nu den bäst säljande Svenska RAC-produktionen genom tiderna. Med lilla mig på sång! Fantastiskt!! Så det här är min historia och vad gäller framtiden... Kram till er alla! |
